We have had our geothermal heating and cooling system in operation for three years now and I wanted to send you a report. We have been very happy with the operation and low operating bills for the system. Our house is more comfortable than we ever kept it before in winter or summer. The system worked great even in the subzero weather we had a week ago. And in the summer, the air conditioning is practically free. The Heat Recovery Ventilation system is also performing well. It heats and cools quickly and efficiently and my electric bills are incredibly low. If you are building a home, geothermal is the obvious choice but you must choose the right HVAC company. I decided to replace my oil fired heating system with something both lower cost and environment friendly. I began to investigate geothermal systems and contractors. A friend at work had a geothermal system and recommended I talk to Tim. My experience with Tim has been terrific. We had several meetings where we worked through and discussed different options for my home – advanced air source heat pump, open loop geothermal – before finally settling on a closed loop system from ClimateMaster. Tim was very careful and thorough in the design of the system. He was particularly concerned about balancing the cost of the initial installation with the payback potential of the system through energy cost savings. Ultimately, we settled on a system sized to provide adequate heat for the house when the outside temperature drops to around 2 to 5 below zero F. For the short periods of time when the outside temperature falls below this threshold, we kept the old oil fired system to provide supplemental heat. Finally, the quality of the work was top notch. Tim and his subcontractors performed the work on schedule and as planned. All of the work, from the wiring to the pipes to the installation of the heat exchange units, has a clean, high quality look to it. I happily show off the system to anyone interested. Many of those I have shown the system are engineers or tradesmen. And in all cases, they have complimented the quality of the work done by Tim and his team. The care and attention to detail are obvious. We have had the system operational for three years now. It has consistently kept us comfortable both in the summer and winter. It has reduced our utility bills as expected. And, other than periodic replacement of filters in the air handlers, the system has been maintenance free. Coming from a family of builders I choose to take on the task of being the GC when I built my own home. I learned very quickly which subcontractors I would never use again and the ones that I would use again and highly recommend to others. Tim is who created the second category. Tim was the fourth GeoThermal contractor that I called and I’m glad I did. Every other quote that I received was based on the number of bedrooms of the house and not one other contractor asked to see a building plan. Tim was the only HVAC contractor that actually engineered and designed my system before submitting a quote.
